It was 20 years ago when Mark Stoller of Stealth Cues had the most wonderful idea of making cues for kids. Mark Stoller of Stealth Cues always believed in making the newer generations excited to play the game of billiards, and decided that this idea would take make the youth more excited to play the game.
Back in 1994, Mark Stoller of Stealth Cues invented the first set of pool cues for young children and started the “My First Cue” program. At the time the young billiards players, who were then about 6 years old, were playing with the adult cues at tournaments. Mark Stoller of Stealth Cues decided that he was going to change all of that and did. While Mark Stoller was creating the Stealth Kids Cues he decided that they should be 48 and 52 inches. Mark Stoller designed the Stealth Kids Cues to look like an adult cue would but would be functional for children. Mark Stoller decided that not only would he create the cue but also design an embroidered case for the Stealth Cue. The creation of the Stealth Cues “My First Cue” program was based on a fad that no one had implemented into the billiards community. That is until Mark Stoller of Stealth Cues grabbed the proverbial bull by the horns and made a successful new line. Today the Stealth Cues sizes created by Mark Stoller are still an industry standard.
Once the Stealth Kids Cues had come out they were featured on the first double page spread and advertised in Billiards Digest showing 6 youths playing on a pool table. Mark Stoller of Stealth Cues had two seasons where kid’s cues were only available from Stealth Cues. After those two years they had begun to be copied by other companies and the market flooded with youth sized cues.
Now it is 20 years later and a lot of the children that started off playing with the Stealth Kids Cues have advanced as professional pool players. They are approximately 26 years of age and continue to play with Stealth Cues made by Mark Stoller. Over the years these wonderful people have kept in touch with Mark Stoller of Stealth Cues through letters and emails. They have wanted to give Mark Stoller updates on where they are and what they have been doing. It has made Mark Stoller very happy to reminisce upon these times and see how he has helped children all over the world become better billiards players.
Don’t think that Mark Stoller of Stealth Cues is out of ideas. When I asked him if there will be any more ideas as big as the Stealth Kids Cue, he replied: “Of course the next big thing for Stealth Cues is always right around the corner”. Keep checking back at www.stealthcues.com for updates.
