As I sat down with Mark Stoller of Stealth Cues today we talked about his life a little bit and how he came to be. Mark Stoller wanted to share a lesson that he learned early in life and have me tell it to the world.
As a 20 year old boy with braces Mark Stoller headed out into the billiard industry to begin Stealth Cues. Mark Stoller met and learned from some of the most wonderful people in the world. The people the Mark Stoller had met were from the era of the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s. They would sit down with Mark and tell him stories for hours. Some of the people would mix milk and whiskey together for a drink because their esophagus’s were burnt out. The reason that they would do this is because they liked their life styles and were not ready to give up the game yet. Mark Stoller felt like a student of all of these wonderful people by listening to their stories and learning from them.
One of the most valuable lessons that Mark Stoller of Stealth Cues learned was to never play another man’s game. One day Mark Stoller came upon a pool hall named Hall of Fame in Elk grove Illinois and decided to go inside. When Mark had went inside he walked up on a pool table where an old codger was standing. The man asked Mark to gamble on a bank shot game where you hit the ball into the rail and it goes directly into the side pocket. This game was won by the person who hit in the most balls out of five. The man let Mark Stoller shoot first and he had made in two out of the five shots. After Mark Stoller finished his turn, without hesitation the old codger he riffled off all five bank shots in a row. After the man was done he looked at Mark and said “Kid, Never play another man’s game”. Mark Stoller looked at the old codger with a daze in his eye’s wondering how he had done this. Before Mark could even ask the question the man simply said “I practice this shot all day, this is my game, my comfort zone and my table” and with that the old codger had taught Mark Stoller a valuable lesson in life while he was still young.
Ever since that day, Mark Stoller of Stealth Cues has applied that saying to everything that he does. Mark Stoller of Stealth Cues has taken those words of wisdom to heart and has never forgotten them. Mark Stoller has used them to make him into a leader and to control his own destiny.
This is a lesson that I personally will never forget and will always keep in mind for the rest of my days. I will apply it to today, tomorrow and forever. As, I will pass this on to my children I hope that all of you do the same.
Mark Stoller says: “With 20 wonderful years behind me I’m looking forward to reinventing the next 20 years making Stealth Cues even more advanced than before”.
